I finally found (at Target!) one of the few Campbell's soups that is gluten-free: Chicken Broccoli Cheese (an potato). I was curious about the flavor and texture and can finally report on it.
It's a bit light for a meal. I found it flavorful enough for something out of a can. I think it would be perfect tossed with some cooked gf noodles (penne, linguini, or spaghetti) along with two cooked cans of the soup, perhaps with some gf biscuits. Nevermind the potatoes in it, it's not chunky enough that it would be noticable. It serves more like a thick sauce than a chunky soup.
It will be a repeat purchase to stock in my pantry, but it needs something more with it. I hear a caserole waiting to be improved with this addition....let me know if you discover it's perfect recipe/ dinner mate.

ReplyDeleteHi, Can you cite your source for the fact that this is Gluten-Free? The ingredients list Modified Food Starch which is usually a warning sign.

ReplyDeleteI have conflicting reports re the soup you cited as being gluten free. Did you have a Campbell's web page source more recent than the 1996 listing I found? I found another blog from 2008 that listed no soups from Campbells as being GF. I would love to try this soup if I could be certain. Have also contacted Campbells.
ReplyDeleteThere are no gluten free soups listed on the Campbell's website. They have other items listed, such as some of the Prego pasta sauces, etc., but no soups.

Just wanted to share this info. because some people with Celiac Disease don't have immediate symptoms if they eat small amounts of gluten, so you can't always tell by your symptoms. However, small amounts of gluten can still be causing an adverse immune response in your body and intestinal damage. If there are Campbell's soups that are gluten free, they are not listed on their website.
It is appropriate time to make a few plans for the longer term and it is time to be happy. I've learn this publish and if I could I desire to suggest you some attention-grabbing things or advice.

I just called Campbells today and they stated they have no GF soups, but they are mailing me a list of their other GF products.
ReplyDeleteThey must have changed their recipe because it now contains wheat flour. I really wish they would highlight or bold ALL allergens, or at least state at the end what the allergens are because their list of ingredients is quite lengthy and can easily be missed.
